PTU Penquin Greetings Tag Tut

This tutorial is my own creation and any resemblance to others is purely coincidental.  This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.  Please do not copy or claim as your own.  Anything you produce from this tutorial is yours to do what you wish for personal use only.  No profit is to be made from your results.

Materials Needed:

PSP X or any version should work. 
Animation Shop or other Animation Program 


A tube of your choice.  I used the wonderful artwork of Maxine Gadd which you can purchase at Creative Design Outlet. You must have a license to use this art.

Let's Get Creating!
Open a new transparent image 700 x 700 so you have lots of room to work.

Open tube of choice - duplicate and close original.
Open Frame3_FD - resize 80% - copy & paste as new layer on your new image. Add drop shadow V/H 2, Opacity 5, Blur 3, Black.  Name the layer it lights. 
Open Paper1_FD - resize 80% - copy & paste as new layer - move to the bottom of your palette. Apply MB and SW Mask 22 - fit to layer checkedMerge group and duplicate masked layer, merge down on the two mask layers. Add drop shadow V/H 2, Opacity 25, Blur 0, black.
Open Paper3_FD - copy & paste as new layer and move to bottom.
Apply same mask as before except check invert transparency - merge group. Lower opacity to 40.
Crop entire image to 650 x 650.  
Add a new layer and flood fill with  #adc1cd (which is the color of the font on the bucket). Move this layer to the very bottom of your palette.
Open Frame1_FD - resize 75% - copy & paste as new layer above Paper1 layer. With your magic wand set to 0 tolerance - 0 feather -contiguous and anti-alias checked - outside,  click inside one of the circles of the frame.  Go to Selections - Modify - Expand by 1.
Copy & paste your tube as a new layer then position a portion of the tube you like to be in the frame. Go to Selections - InvertActivate tube layer and hit delete key once to remove excess tube.
Move this layer below Frame1 layer and lower opacity of tube layer to 60.  Repeat this step for the second oval of the frame.
Selections - Select None
Add drop shadow to Frame1 - V/H 1, Opacity 30, Blur 3.
Open Frame2_FD - copy & paste as new layer - move above Frame1 layer - get your eraser tool and remove the portions of the red frame that overlap Frame1 cutouts (see my tag). Add drop shadow V/H 1, Opacity 30, Blur 3.
Open Element8_FD - copy & paste as new layer - move layer so it is 3rd layer from bottom - above both masked layers.  Crop image again to 650 x 650.

Open Elemet7_FD - resize 90%  - place on left side of tag - Duplicate and mirror. Merge down the leaf layers.  With your eraser tool remove any of the leaves that may be showing in the oval frames.
Add drop shadow same as you did before.
 
 Resize your tube 90% - Copy & paste tube as a new layer - move to the top of your layers palette just below the Lights layer.
Position on the lower right side and add drop shadow - V/H 4, Opacity 25, Blur 5.
Open Wordart1_FD - resize 50% - add drop shadow V/H 5 - Opacity 60, Blur 0, Color  #687c4a or color you like to match your tubeI chose the green shade to match the light strand.
Add another drop shadow to it with V/H 1 - Opacity 25, Blur 0, Black...this will give it a nice clean edge on the wordart.
Add any other elements you'd like - resizing and adding drop shadow to each.
When you are satisfied with your elements, close off the Lights layer and merge all layers visible.
Add a new layer - flood fill with red or a darker color from your tube. Selections - Select All - Modify - Contract by 2.  Hit delete key once - Select None.  Add drop shadow V 1 / H -1, Opacity 25, Blur 0, Black.  Merge visible.
Resize your tag 80% so it should be approximately 520 x 520.
Add copyright info and license number for the tube you used.
Add a name.
Reopen your Lights layer.

(Optional Animation of Lights)

Let's make those lights blink!

Grab your magic wand - Tolerance and Feather 0 - Anti-Alias checked - Inside. Click inside one of the light bulbs. Go to Selections - Modify - Select Similar with Tolerance 20, Discontiguous and Anti-Alias and Outside checked.
Duplicate Lights layer so you have 3 layers of lights.
 Starting at the bottom lights layer use your Change to Target Brush and choose a color in your foreground palette for the color lights you want and use these settings.

Repeat changing color on each layer.

       Selections - Select None.
Activate your tag layer and duplicate it so you have 3 tags in your palette.
Move each layer to there is one tag layer below each lights layer.
Merge down one set of lights with one tag and continue down the palette until you have all 3 tag layers merge with it's own lights layer.
Save as - PSP Animation Shop (*.psp)
Open Animation Shop - Open your PSP file of your tag - there should be 3 layers to it.
Select all layers - go to Animation and set Frame Properties to 25.
Test your animation and adjust speed if need.
Save as gif.
